Happy Father’s Day

Father’s Day celebration was an idea that came to life when Sonora Dodd from Spokane Washington was listening to a Mother’s Day sermon in 1909.  Sonora felt strongly that there should be a day to honour fathers as well because of the affection she received from her own father Mr. William Jackson Smart a Civil War veteran.  Sonora’s mother died during childbirth and Mr. Smart raised the newborn and five other children with love and care.  Ms. Dodd began a …
