Writer’s Block

So for the past two days I’ve been sitting staring at blank word document trying to figure out what to write about for this week’s blog.  It is not that there isn’t anything to write about…as a matter of fact there a lot is as we are in the peak of feting season leading up to Antigua’s Carnival.  But being that we’re a hotel we are trying to share with you all things sun, sea and sand…all that touristy stuff.

Water Spout caused by TS Chantal

On Tuesday we were suppose to visit Prickley Pear Island but because of Tropical Storm Chantal that trip was postpone for the fear of rough seas and rain.  The day was pretty humid and overcast in some areas of the island.  We weren’t in the path of the storm but we did get some excitement as a result of the storm at around 5pm when a water spout came ashore and uprooted some trees and did some structural damage on the north-eastern of the island…thankfully no one was hurt.  There was lots of excitement on Facebook, Twitter and Youtube of images of the water spout.

Hahaha…WOW…that was a mouthful for someone suffering from writer’s block…LOL!

So like I said there is lots happening.  If you’re a party animal and want to take in some local action three blocks from Trade Winds Hotel a group of friends are having party called Drinks.  Tomorrow evening at the Yasco Sports Complex it is all about FLAGS a concert geared at unifying and representing your country so remember to walk with your flags.  Also tomorrow evening is Blue Jeans one of Antigua’s premiere pre-carnival inclusive fetes which is also a short taxi ride from the hotel, featuring local artists and deejays.  However the biggest and most anticipated event this weekend is the semi –finals for Carnival 2013 Party Monarch competition at Millers By The Sea on Sunday.   Everyone is excited to see who will make the final cut for performance on August 3rd 2013 at Antigua Recreation Grounds.

Thinking of something a little low-key but yet adventurous?  How about Turtle Watching with the Environmental Awareness Group or show your creative side and help beautify the Point – Villa area in a street art event themed: “Happy Days”.    Or you can opt to work on your handicapped at the Cedar Valley Golf Club a short taxi ride away, bird-watch at McKinnons Salt Pond or just sit poolside with your summer read and your favourite cocktail from the Bay House Restaurant & Bar.

On the home front Chef Hodge has been quite busy and Bay House Restaurant & Bar’s new menu will be revealed soon…keep watching our Facebook page.  Our Carnival and 2-for-1 room specials are still ongoing as well as our 40% ALL drinks happy hour daily from 5pm to 7pm.   Take some time and browse through our events page and then click on to specials and plan your summer escape to Trade Winds Hotel.

So tell me…how did I do for someone suffering from “writer’s block”?
